🧶 Yarn Stash Showdown Daily Clue #1
Finally started Flat Panels
I have put off learning to knit Flat panels. I want to make blankets for baby dolls and teddy bears. They don’t actually need to be tubes for warmth. I tried a couple of cast on approaches and found it really too hard to keep from dropping stitches on one side. The other side was fairly easy to prevent dropped stitches, but still needed attention. What I learned was that putting the little black Addi Stoppers that came with the machine on the outer two black needles prevented the loosening of the needle on the opposite side of the knitting. The side I started the cast on (the one with the leading tail) stabilized in just a few rows. The other end still required attention, but was less likely to pop off spontaneously. Bottom Line: Making just each end shorter by one stitch made the process less frustrating, and less time consuming on the machine. Downside: It rolls really badly and needs a crocheted border and serious blocking to look nice. I will probably just make these blankets as tubes and sew them together. Hope this helps someone else.
