Mommy’s Birthday Gift #2 was a Pocket Hug
With the help of the grands, I quickly made a pocket hug for them to give to their Mom on July 10th. After putting the note in a small jewelry bag along with the hug, when Campbell was presenting it to her Mom, Campbell immediately took the paper out of the bag and crumbled it, and squeezed the heart while I looked on in horror. A few lessons I learned as I did a make over today: 1) laminated the note, 2) used a heavier gauge wire in the heart, 3) make the ends of the wire into a small spiral so they do not come through the heart, and 4) tie the heart to the card. Thank you @Linda Simard for the idea and pattern. You’re given credit on the back of the card that I will be sending along with special occasion cards, gifting for Valentine’s Day and adding to my stocking stuffers.

Ooh wee! Nice haul! If I had those pastels, I just might make another baby blanket.
Does anyone else do this …
Hold a darning needle, sewing needle, straight pins, etc. between their lips when they are working on a project? Since the grandchildren are around me a lot when I’m working on my projects, I’m trying very hard not to do this. But when I don’t, I spend more time on where did I just put down that needle? The needle has probably slipped down on the side of my reclining chair but it is so annoying. I’ve had this habit since I first learned how to sew which was probably 60 years ago. Pin cushions, magnets, or even just laying it on the table I’m working on has not helped. If not between the lips, I inadvertently place it on my lap on top of the covers, sort of.🥴

@Gaelene E when Campbell asked why is that in your mouth Grandma? I felt like I had been slapped in the face! I still do it when they are not here, but I have to break the habit completely!

On 3/3/26, I started using the Addi knitting machine with a goal to make items to donate to Durham’s Maternal Stress-Free Zone.
