🧶 Why Did My Project Turn Out the Wrong Size? 🤔
🧶 You carefully follow the pattern, use what seems like the same weight yarn... and your finished project turns out a completely different size. What happened?
Many people assume that if two yarns are both labelled the same weight, they'll produce the same result. Unfortunately, that's not always true. Different fibres, construction, and gauge can all affect the finished size of your project, even when the yarns have the same weight category.
To help explain why this happens, I recorded a video that walks you through:
🧶 What yarn gauge really means
🧶 Why two "same weight" yarns can knit up very differently
🧶 How to substitute yarn more successfully
🧶 How to avoid projects turning out too big or too small
🎥 Watch the video here:
Understanding gauge is one of the biggest steps you can take toward becoming a more confident circular machine knitter. Once you understand it, choosing substitute yarns becomes much less of a guessing game and you'll have far more success with your projects.
