Arguably one of if not the best in the SWY lineup, Absolutely released in 2021 by perfumer Cécile Matton, who managed to balance the intense sweetness of the line with a smoky, liquor-like edge. In doing so he took the the sweet, gourmand DNA of the original & added a sophisticated, boozy, resinous depth that makes the whole thing feel more grown up. Absolutely is a Fougère Ambery Oriental fragrance, that retains the signature chestnut note, but introduces a dark rum accord that shifts the vibe from candy sweet to a refined lounge. The star of the show right out of the gate is the Rum Accord. It’s not just alcohol scented. it has a deep, molasses like richness. The Elemi resin adds a subtle spicy, peppery kick that prevents the sweetness from being cloying. As the booze settles, the Lavender provides a clean, masculine backbone. This is paired with Davana, an essential oil that smells like dried fruit or apricot. This combination creates a sophisticated dark fruit undertone that bridges the gap between the top and the base. The signature of the SWY line is that Glazed Chestnut. Here this gets dialled up with a smokier edge. The Madagascar Vanilla & Cedarwood combo pair well to create a burnt sugar & woody finish that lasts for ages. Performance here is real good too, I get between 6 to 7hrs on skin, and it clings to your clothes forever. The projection is also strong but not screechy. It creates a dense scent bubble for the first 3 hours before settling into a warm, inviting trail.The rum and vanilla notes thrive in cold air but can become cloying in high heat. Ideal for date nights, evening events, or formal winter gatherings. If you found Intensely too sweet or youthful, Absolutely is the answer.
