SOTD: Beach Walk by Maison Margiela 17/07/2026
All I can say is wow. This is nothing like what I expected – totally different from the rest of the collection, and such a pleasant surprise. It’s built to capture that exact feeling of a slow, lazy stroll along the shore on a warm summer’s day: salt hanging in the air, skin glowing from hours in the sun, and that faint, familiar scent of good sunscreen lingering everywhere you go. Launched back in 2012, it’s the work of Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and Marie Salamagne, the pair behind modern classics like Afternoon Swim and By The Fireplace, so you know you’re in safe hands here. First spray hits you with this bright, breezy mix of bergamot, sharp pink pepper and fresh lemon. It’s an instant burst of freshness that feels exactly like stepping out from shelter and breathing in that crisp coastal breeze – but the citrus never gets harsh, sharp or overpowering. It stays light, airy and genuinely uplifting. Give it ten minutes or so, and the real heart of the scent comes through: soft ylang-ylang tangled up with a smooth coconut milk accord. The ylang-ylang brings this gentle, creamy tropical floral edge, and the coconut adds that rich, rounded sweetness – this is exactly what people mean when they say it smells like expensive, high-quality sunscreen, and it pulls it off perfectly without ever feeling cheap or cloying. By the time it fully settles, you’re left with soft musk, clean cedarwood and a whisper of benzoin. The musk gives it this natural, “this is just how I smell” warmth that feels like sun-kissed, slightly salty skin; the cedar adds a tiny touch of dry, woody depth, and the benzoin brings just enough soft resinous sweetness to tie the whole thing together and stop it feeling too thin. Now for the real talk on performance: As an edt it’s never going to be a beast. I get about 4 hours on skin, with noticeable projection out to arm’s length for the first 90m before it tucks in close as a skin scent. But honestly? I don’t even mind, because the vibe here makes up for every drop of it. This doesn’t just smell nice – it feels like a holiday. Pure sun, sea, sand, sunscreen and nothing but good vibes. It’s the kind of scent that lifts your mood the second you spray it, and that’s worth more to me than all-day loud projection. If you want to bring a little bit of that summer getaway feeling to your everyday life, this is an absolute must-try.

Fragrance House Reviews. My Honest Take Next up Day Three Fragrances (Niche/Artisan) !!!
I own the entire Day Three lineup, and to me this is one of the most underrated American artisan fragrance houses out there. The brand doesn’t rely on hype or flashy marketing. Instead, it focuses on quality compositions, creativity, and wearable fragrances that stand on their own. You can tell a lot of thought goes into each release, and most of them have their own identity rather than chasing whatever is trending. What really stands out to me is the quality of the materials and the blending. The fragrances smell smooth, natural, and refined from opening to dry down. They transition well throughout the wear instead of feeling linear or synthetic. Whether it’s a fresh release like Frost, a gourmand, or something darker and richer, they all feel like they belong to the same house because of the attention to detail. Another thing I appreciate is the variety. There is something for almost everyone without the lineup feeling repetitive. You have fresh, tropical, gourmand, woody, spicy, and darker offerings, yet most of them maintain their own personality. I never get the feeling that the house is simply releasing flankers or slightly tweaking the same DNA over and over again. Performance is solid across the line. Some fragrances project more than others because that is simply the style of the scent, but I judge performance by how well a fragrance actually works—not whether it lasts 16 hours or fills an entire room. Day Three fragrances generally have good projection, a noticeable scent trail, and respectable longevity while remaining well-balanced. Cons No house is perfect. Because Day Three is a smaller artisan brand, availability is more limited than designer fragrances, and you won’t find it in department stores. The fragrances also carry artisan pricing, which may be more than someone used to buying designers or clone fragrances wants to spend. While I appreciate that many releases are unique, a few may be more artistic or specific in their appeal and won’t be as universally loved as a typical blue designer fragrance.
Interestingly great cheap layering combo
So I'm curious if anyone has any feedback on this first fragrance. It's Afnan's Turathi Blue. Supposedly it's one of the better Tygar interpretations, but I've yet to smell Tygar. It's pretty kinda close to Sospiro Vibrato, but you can clearly smell the price difference there. I'd imagine you would on Tygar as well. Compared to Vibrato, it's a bit harsher and synthetic and that musk just comes off a bit funky for me. I was thinking I could round it out with something still fresh, but perhaps a bit fruity. Enter Afnan's 9am dive.. A fruity, somewhat generic blue fragrance that is often compared to YSL Y. It absolutely did the trick. These two smell better combined that they could ever smell by themselves! That's my opinion at least. All in all, those 2 bottles may have cost me $50 combined. Do any of you have any combos like this?
