rocking this classic today that my wife got me for my birthday in September, and it still feels effortlessly refined, fresh and modern. It opens with a burst of bright bergamot, lemon, and fresh ginger, I pick a good chunk of ginger that instantly feels clean, sorta fresh crisp, and a little zesty. As it settles, the spice smooths into a heart of pepper, violet, and basil that adds a soft, elegant warmth without being heavy. After about an hour, it dries down beautifully into a cozy base of tonka bean, cedarwood, leaving behind a woody-musky trail that feels gentlemanly and comforting. According to reviewers, projection is moderate for the first hour or two before becoming more intimate, for me it’s around 35-45 minutes before it lingers subtly as a skin scent, this skin scent also fades very fast with longevity averaging around 4–6 hours if it’s sprayed on clothes and about 2 hours max before the smells completely gone. Maybe my skin doesn’t have chemistry with this frag, be damned if I know. It’s not a loud scent, and it could be a lot better, maybe reformulations has changed things idk—YSL L’Homme is understated sophistication in a bottle, unique scent profile that is quite great but performance & longevity is mediocre, I don’t see myself using money on this for myself, as a gift fine but not for me! This sits between my preferred taste of freshies & spicy, oriental, woods.
