Slay of the Day - Kerosene Follow
I picked up this sample all the way back in 2024 when I was first discovering coffee scents. It's taken me a bit to get to it, but I was finally able to finish off the sample this evening. Scent: 8.0 - it's a very straight forward coffee scent with a side of pancakes. Behind the opening bitter coffee notes, there's a sticky sweetness. It's like breakfast at a Waffle House with a strong cup of joe. Performance: 8.5 - I get all day wear from it. Spraying it on in the morning, it's still hanging around 12 hours later. Projection: Medium. It's fairly loud when first sprayed on for the first hour or two, then fades down to a noticeable scent trail. I never go anosmic to it. I never get compliments on this one, because I think most people think I've just been sitting around the coffee pot all morning. Package Design: 6.0 - the bottle has a nice charm to it, and it's recognizable on a crowded shelf. But it doesn't really say much about what's in the bottle, and the name doesn't really match the scent. There's a flanker called Followed that's more intense. Perceived Value: 6.0 - The price at retail isn't too bad - $165 for 100mL. That's better than a lot of similar EDPs from larger niche houses who would have a similar price for half the size. But there's a limited use case for this fragrance. It's a gourmand coffee scent, and I just don't know how often that's something I personally would want to wear. It took me nearly 2 years to go through a 2mL decant, so 100mL would take me into the next century and beyond. If you have want to have a coffee scent in your collection, this is a really good option, but decant it first to make sure it's something you want to spend the money on. Overall: 7.6. B- As coffee gourmands go, this is a great option. But there are a lot of better coffee scents out there, and you don't really need a 100mL bottle of this stuff. If you're curious, get a decant of this one and its Followed flanker and enjoy them for what they are. Thanks, guys. Hope y'all have a wonderful Valentine's tomorrow!
