Intense French Riviera is a fresh marine fragrance, but it has more body and depth than the usual light summer aquatic. I get bright citrus, salty ocean air, aromatic spice, and a deeper musky-woody base. The ambergris, cedar, vetiver, and touch of oud make it feel denser without turning it into a heavy oud fragrance. It still gives me that Mediterranean vacation feeling, but it smells more like open ocean air than suntan lotion. Compared with the original, the original is lighter, smoother, creamier, and more tropical. It gives me more of a relaxed beach-resort feeling and works a little better in extreme heat. The Intense is saltier, spicier, woodier, and more masculine-leaning. It has less of that creamy sunscreen quality and more depth in the drydown. They share the same basic DNA, but the Intense feels richer, darker, and more substantial rather than simply being a stronger version. Performance: I get around 8 to 10 hours of longevity. Projection is strong for the first 2 to 3 hours, reaching about 4 to 6 feet from the skin before settling into a moderate scent bubble. Sillage is strong early, leaving a noticeable trail when I move through a room, then becomes moderate after the first few hours. It also lasts well into the next day on clothing. I love them both: the original for the daytime and the Intense for the evening.
