Hey gents, Apologies in advance for the LONG message... Earlier this week someone asked me what my favorites notes were or what my profile was and it got me thinking...I felt like I am starting to establish my groove and understand my preferences and dislikes and so I took to ChatGPT to help me analyze some things and boy did it hit the nail on the head. I gave ChatGPT a list of about 20 fragrances that I've either bought bottles of or plan to buy bottles of. They included a couple of close flankers (each of the Sauvage and BdC lines as there are SLIGHT variations in notes but ultimately I like them and will own them all...save for Eau Forte...LOL) but it was a varied list. What I got back was a really interesting analysis that seems to hit the nail spot on. I thought this was a great exercise and really seemed to shed some light. Below is my analysis. My question to you all...have you figured out what YOU like most or have you considered doing a similar exercise? I was surprised at order though not necessarily surprised at what it came up with. Curious where you all are at? 1. Amber & Woody Ambroxan-Driven Base - Fragrances: Sauvage line, Bleu de Chanel (especially Parfum/EDP), Explorer, Givenchy Privee, Eros Flame, Azzaro MW Elixir - Notes in this family: Ambroxan, Amberwood, Woody Ambers, Cedarwood, Sandalwood - Why it matters: These give your favorite scents a masculine, polished, versatile base that works in day or night settings. Ambroxan in particular is the backbone of most modern masculine “blue” scents — clean, musky, radiant. 2. Sweet Spicy Warmth (Cardamom, Cinnamon, Tonka, Amber) - Fragrances: Most Wanted Elixir, Eros Flame, Gentleman Privee, Explorer Extreme, Eros EDT, Bleu Parfum - Common Notes: Tonka Bean, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Warm Amber, Vanilla - Why it matters: This cluster gives you that warm seductive punch you like in evening/date night scents without being overbearingly youthful. You favor spice that’s warm and smooth, not screechy.
