I've spent the last couple of days wearing my sample of Babycat Raw Bourbon by YSL, a 2025 rerelease that follows the original Babycat. Although I only tried the original a few years ago and don't recall it vividly, I’ll focus on my impressions of this new version. From the very first whiff, Babycat Raw Bourbon greets you with a robust blend of strong resins and pepper, delivering a distinctly oriental opening that immediately captivates. Just after a minute or so, a warm and inviting vanilla note emerges, adding depth to the fragrance. Around the five-minute mark, hints of light leather and boozy undertones make their appearance, which perfectly aligns with the bourbon theme of the scent. As the fragrance transitions into the drydown, the resins evolve into a wonderfully smoky, incense-like profile. This is complemented by the sweet, rich vanilla that lingers in the background, creating a beautifully balanced aroma. YSL has nailed the vanilla aspect, making it feel deep and opulent, perfectly harmonizing with the resin and smoke. In terms of performance, Babycat Raw Bourbon offers a strikingly strong peppery opening that lasts for about an hour. Following this, a gorgeous vanilla scent emerges, remaining prominent for over four hours while projecting well at around arm's length. After the four-hour mark, the projection softens slightly but remains lingering on my skin until I decided to shower at the end of the day. So, expect great longevity and solid projection overall. This fragrance shines especially on colder days, exuding a warmth that makes it feel extra inviting. However, I must note that, like many resin and incense-based scents, it isn’t to everyone’s taste—my wife isn’t a fan. This limitation may affect how often I can wear it, leading me to consider that, while I might love it personally, I may not end up purchasing a full bottle. Overall, Babycat Raw Bourbon is a complex and enchanting fragrance that showcases YSL's prowess in creating rich and captivating scents. If you appreciate deep, resinous perfumes, this one might just be a perfect fit for your collection.

While I’m finishing up my work trip in some Warmer weather I thought I’d break out the heritage scent. Floris #89 is a signature scent for the brand. Definitely lighter and crispy and gives me a sense that I’m ready for spring even though I’m heading back to the cold soon. Warmer days are ahead!!
