SOTD: Papilefiko by Nishane
Day Three of my Nishane Time Caspule Discovery Set testing sessions, and this time we're on Papilefiko. It's got a couple of fine scents to follow, in Deziro and Kredo... can it fill their ample footwear? In a word... no. The notes are fine. It's a sweet smell with a herbaceous base, with Cardamom and Coriander duelling banjos while sat on a citrus-forward porch. The citrus fades pretty quickly, and doesn't really get replaced by anything notable. There's some florals, but the herby note takes front and centre. And oddly, it's not really a green and fresh herb, it's more like a cooking ingredient herb, as if there's a partly-pink chicken roasting somewhere in the distance. It becomes an intimate scent at about four hours, and any longer than that saw me actively hunting it. When I DID locate it, I almost felt like I didn't. Was this the scent? Or was this just my arm? Perhaps I'm being a touch harsh. It's nice. By that, I mean it's okay. It has nice smelly notes, and it lingers, and it's inoffensive and vaguely joyful. But it doesn't do anything exciting for me, and it doesn't really do anything beyond a "quite good" point. Deziro has a fantastic scent bubble, and Kredo has a glorious opening and mid. They felt like art, bold canvases by great painters. Papilefiko is art too, I suppose, but it's art you'd find on a Travelodge wall. It doesn't inspire, or excite. It covers a stain. It does a job. Ah well. As a great man said, they can't all be zingers. Looking forward to the next.
