Here is an intriguing and highly popular unisex fragrance that hails from the United Arab Emirates. Released n 2020, it seems to have a cult following for its blend of traditional Middle Eastern notes with contemporary gourmand elements. This is a Gourmand Woody fragrance, A good balance of sweetness with deep, resinous undertones. It opens with an unconventional and addictive burst of ripe grapes & dark chocolate, creating a juicy yet rich sweetness that immediately grabs attention. As the scent transitions into the heart, the initial fruitiness softens to reveal a classic Middle Eastern core of musk and oud. The oud here is smooth and approachable rather than medicinal, providing a sturdy, woody backbone. The dry-down is where the fragrance finds its true warmth, settling into a comforting base of toffee, tobacco, and subtle floral notes. The tobacco adds a sophisticated, slightly smoky edge that prevents the toffee's caramelized sweetness from becoming cloying, resulting in a balanced, velvety finish. In terms of performance, Mousuf is a good, lasting between 6hrs + on the skin, and can remain on clothing for days. Good day, everybody! Today I am battling two excellent Fragrance du Bois offerings: Oud Bleu Intense vs. Cayman Bleu Cayman Bleu is apparently an oudless reformulation of Oud Bleu Intense, and that’s apparent out of the gate. While they are very similar, Cayman Bleu opens a bit lighter and brighter, with a hint more citrus; while Oud Bleu Intense definitely has more depth with a touch of non-stinky oud and a more apparent incense note. Cayman Bleu did have a bit of a funky note at the open that I didn’t love (maybe the onycha, whatever that is) but thankfully it faded after half an hour. Both are monsters - 3 sprays to the arm for each, and 5 hours later I’m still getting both wafting up to my nose. The drydowns are similar, a lovely balsamic amber that still somehow hints at citrus. Both are full bottle worthy - definitely an interesting take on “blue” fragrances, built around amber and resin more than something like BDC which has more of a woody backbone. But I think I prefer Oud Bleu Intense - I enjoy the relative richness, which also makes it more versatile throughout the cooler months (but it’s still light enough for summer - just maybe not in the highest heat, where Cayman Bleu would definitely work better). Also, Cayman Bleu is harder to find at a discount as it’s a limited release. So taking all that into account, I’m thinking if I can find a deal on Oud Bleu Intense, I gotta get a bottle
