HSPU help
Been working on freestanding HSPU recently and need some advice on consistency.
My HS is around 30–40s and recently my HSPU actually improved a lot. When it clicks, the reps feel smooth/easy with good stack and less shaking. But it still feels inconsistent depending on the day or environment.
The main issue is during the negative/bottom transition. If the balance or stack is slightly off, suddenly the negative feels super heavy and I end up needing to kick back up or lose balance during the press.
I noticed calm attempts usually go way better, but when there’s pressure or I rush the rep, the form breaks down fast.
Right now I mainly do:
  • freestanding attempts
  • bottom holds
  • pike push ups / lil press work
  • pseudo planche push ups
  • some wall work sometimes
Any tips on making the HSPU more stable/automatic and less dependent on perfect conditions?
