ADHD & Hormones (menstrual cycle)
I hear a lot of people talking about ADHD related to perimenopause, and I have also read that the hormones can influence and highten ADHD symptoms, not only when you reach perimenopause, but actually EACH month! 😅 So now I am wondering if any of you noticed a pattern between your ADHD symptoms getting hightened during your cycle? Or maybe your ADHD-brain hightened your PMS or mood-swings? I was often told by my ex that I had crazy mood swings during my cyclus, that I would become someone completely else, and that she had never experienced someone "transforming" like this in neither herself or any other woman. From the inside it just felt like I became more introvert sometimes, and granted, maybe a tad more annoyed with everything 😆 I never knew, why I might get more influenced by hormones, or just didn't seem to be able to regulate it proberly, but now I am thinking if there is a possible link between this behaviour and the ADHD brain? 🤔
Last week, I was feeling energized and motivated to make changes, and implement new structures to my life. This week I am back to feeling completely deflated, and lacking motivation to even move out off the couch. I am back to the feeling of "I know I REALLY should be working" (especially now that I just maxed out on the 6-week course), but I just can't find it in me. So both fysical and mental energy DROPPED heavily, in a few days. Spoiler alert: My menstruation arrived monday morning, same time as the drop in energy and motivation. Coincidence? I don't know 🤷‍♀️
