8% bodyfat by summer
Hey guys, I've challenged myself to get down to 8/9% bodyfat through intense tracking and management. I currently track with Gemini, as I can upload a pic of what I've eaten and it can give me an estimate of my macros. I am currently 12-13% bf so the goal to get to 8/9 by end of june will be very possible but also challenging. Best of luck to all of your fitness journeys!

Good luck! My wife got a Hume body scale. If you want to quickly get down to 8/9% body fat then get this scale. I got on it and it said I was 9%. I don't believe it. I weigh more than I ever have. Im 61 yrs old, 6'3" 230 lbs. My calc BMI says Im Obese. I work out but Im not ripped and sculpted for a 9% body fat. My last yr nutritionist visit said I was 18% body fat on her machine/scale and I was 15 lbs lighter. I know I've put on some muscle mass but not that much. I've seen all the comparisons to a dexa scan but not sure how much the reviewers are getting paid....
L Hang
When I hang from a bar in an L for building leg strength, it is much more difficult with straight arms vs bent elbows like a beginning pull up. Which way is the preferred way to hang, straight or bent arms?

This makes sense. Thanks. So a bent arm progresses to a stiff arm. I can get my legs higher in bent arm hangs. I tried then while hanging to move from bent to stiff and my legs drop a little (15 degrees i guess). I guess I need more floor time doing legs raises or is it more of a core issue?

By shoulder slack, do you mean not being in scapular contraction?
Ring dips
I don't have dip bars at home so I need to learn to do dips on my rings properly. I'm using a band as a progression cause I'm not strong enough to do it without it and have the proper technique This is not a movement I'm used to plus it's not stable on the rings but I want to learn to do it the right way....😁 I'm sending attempt 1 and 2, can I get feedback please??

Much further than I am. I started with an inverted hang on rings and I can really feel it in my forearms much more the regular hangs. It also seems to help with my stabilizing muscles too.
🐒 Monkey Bars - Underrated Skill
Most adults try monkey bars once, feel awkward, feel weak, and never touch them again. But honestly, monkey bars are one of the best examples of what hybrid calisthenics is all about. They build: • Grip strength • Shoulder health • Timing • Coordination • Confidence • Body control • Freedom of movement And maybe most importantly... they make training feel like play again. 🔑 The biggest mistake Most adults try to muscle their way through monkey bars. That usually feels heavy, awkward, and exhausting. Monkey bars are not just about strength. They are about rhythm. They are about timing. They are about learning how to swing instead of forcing every rep. ✅ What to build first Before worrying about flying across monkey bars, start with the basics: • Dead hangs • Side to side swinging • Getting comfortable with one arm taking more load • Relaxing your grip instead of over-squeezing • Learning to move with the bar instead of fighting it If you cannot hang comfortably yet, that is step one. That is not a weakness. That is just your starting point. 🎯 The real goal The goal is not to survive monkey bars with pure effort. The goal is to make them feel smooth. At first, you might: • Match both hands on each bar • Move one bar at a time • Pause between swings Later, you can: • Use more rhythm • Skip bars • Flow forward without stopping • Make it feel almost effortless That is when monkey bars become really fun. 🔥 Why I like them so much Monkey bars remind me of something I talk about all the time: Training should not only make you stronger. It should help you use your body. That is why I love things like monkey bars, parkour, gymnastics, animal movement, and Ninja Warrior style training. You are not just building muscle. You are building control. You are building trust in your body. You are building movement that actually feels alive. 💡 A good way to think about it If all you ever do is pull-ups, you get stronger at pulling. That is great. But if you take that pulling strength and use it on monkey bars, now you are adding:

There is a small set of bars at Planet Fitness, small diameter bars close together in a quad station. Its a good place to start. I think small diameter bars are harder for me, I have big hands..
Parallettes
Which is better to use the wooden parallettes or the metal parallettes?

I like wooden ones. I can make them myself from a 2x6 and closet rod from the home store. Finish it with boiled linseed oil. You can make them any height or length you want...
