Here's the link to today's live mixed ability session. Shouldn't need any equipment. Some tough options and a couple of advanced options thrown in too 💪 just for fun of course. https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/86rUazoNI59ipabT_Y9qmsVhoprIkWYry1Fw2IPsO1XM5VFU2-CWoO_pEa1cZgAN.z42LTyfrdV-4x1mF Passcode: FPq8e^U7 Enjoy, and have a great weekend! @Donna Koch it's amazing hoe much these day to day things/movements we're not used to can affect us!
Hamstring Stretch
Hi @Russ Walker, when doing a hamstring stretch is it bad to feel the stretch at the back of your knee? Was watching a YouTube video saying it was bad to feel stretch behind knee. By the way I like how your studio is coming along, though is has been puzzling me as to why you placed in the centre of your garden rather than to one side. One other question, when keeping my back straight what prevents me from bending more than 90% at the hips? For example, sitting on floor with legs out straight, back upright and trying to reach forwards towards feet with back straight.

Thanks for posting! Good to hear from you and hope you're good? feeling knee could be hitting sciatic nerve or stretching in to ligaments, rather than effectively stretching hamstrings. I'd soften your knee a bit, and maybe ankle. And also pull the muscle not the back of the knee. Originally it was going to be to one side. But at 4.5m wide, in a garden just over 8m wide, and it needed to be 1m from boundary, we decided to go middle. It's pretty far down from the house though, so think it'll work better! And that limitation could be a number of things. Maybe hamstrings, or hips/pelvis is probably most common

@Antoni Krolik you want to feel it in the meat of the thigh. Flexing foot brings in more Calf but some people can put more stretch on the sciatic nerve, which we should avoid. I used to flex foot but don't bother any more. It also sounds as if it could be hamstrings tightness. Your hamstrings attach to your pelvis and if tight, they limit pelvic movement which can be felt at your back. Bent knees removing this is a sign this is the main reason, not necessarily the only reason! Get on those developmental hamstring stretches! Thanks the guys have done great. I was considering going 2m from boundary to get more height but decided against. If you're ever in the area you'll have to drop in

Here's the link to today's session. You'll want a block or cushion for the chest opener. We're doing the roll up too if you usually use a towel or similar under your low back. https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/s7tWwaCTIDS-Nl6VG9MClL7-ADa44WnXWP6Qv6kz1R7eEzcWHv1DvbQmrFlUiT9L.rx6_6zJQGBMVnrkz Passcode: 0c0mGr.x Enjoy and let us know in the comments when you've done it! 👇 Have a good weekend! Lowering LDL Cholesterol
Russ, Would doing your longer Pilates class help towards lowering cholesterol? I know that diet is important, too. I am a little over on my numbers, but my HDL level is good. I know this isn't cardio but as opposed to sitting would a longer Pilates session help with this? Thanks & hope you've been doing well.

Great question! It would help in terms of being a part of keeping active, maintaining lean muscle etc. But really should be combined with cardio when it comes to cholesterol management. Lots of movement throughout the day (non- exercise activity) Walking after meals. And of course managing diet as you said. Hope this helps! Happy to chat more
