Hi @Russ Walker, when doing the sessions I just don't know how you can talk all the way through and not be out of breath! I get out of breath just listening to you! 😁

@Rod Stephen I love the idea of short sprints. As we tend to lose fast twitch muscle as we get older and I genuinely believe it's because we think we're getting old and bring it on ourselves. I am already doing walking and short jog intervals. Slow but sure. I used to run in my 20's and would love to do a 3 mile run a couple of times a week, but it all went on hold when my lower back didn't like it. 😕

@Rod Stephen I'll have a look on YouTube later. Thanks
Hamstring Stretch
Hi @Russ Walker, when doing a hamstring stretch is it bad to feel the stretch at the back of your knee? Was watching a YouTube video saying it was bad to feel stretch behind knee. By the way I like how your studio is coming along, though is has been puzzling me as to why you placed in the centre of your garden rather than to one side. One other question, when keeping my back straight what prevents me from bending more than 90% at the hips? For example, sitting on floor with legs out straight, back upright and trying to reach forwards towards feet with back straight.

Thanks @Russ Walker, I'll try soften my knee and/or ankle and see if that helps. Well obviously I haven't been stretching my hamstrings at all over the past few months. I thought the stretch behind my knee was part of my hamstrings. Also I have been purposely flexing my foot to stretch it more. As for studio, I didn't realise you had to keep 1 metre from the boundary. It looks brilliant and has been built so quick. As for sitting on floor and hip hinge, it just seems that my lower back is so stiff and inflexible. Though I have just tested that if I bend my knees lower back stiffness seems to disappear. Thanks anyway @Russ Walker I appreciate your advice and help. I'm still plodding away at my own pace, but starting to push myself a little harder. I need to improve my strength.

Thanks @Russ Walker, I will try some developmental hamstring stretches. Thank you for the invite to drop in. Not sure when I will be in the area, but I'll let you know if and when I am. Thanks again!
RPE Scale 1-10
@Russ Walker On the RPE (1-10) scale what should we be aiming for when doing the beginners Pilates session exercises?

@Rod Stephen I suppose you will play it by ear and how your body reacts/feels. Well I hope you feel revitalised after your break.

@Rod Stephen ha ha. Good joke
Magnesium
@Russ Walker a quick question. I remember you saying you took a magnesium supplement, curious to know what type and where from if you don't mind?

@Russ Walker thanks. I think if we try and eat a balanced diet then we probably don't need to supplement with magnesium. It's just when you check up on these things it's very difficult to know who to believe.

@Donna Koch that's what I heard, that the soil is becoming more and more depleted of magnesium. Of course unless you buy organic.
Contract-Relax
@Russ Walker or anyone. Wondering what your thoughts are on 'contract-relax' stretching? Or can be been called 'PNF'. Do you think it is more effective than static stretching?
