Eggs on toast alternative/hack
I found this toast alternative hack for any of your favourite “eggs on …” meals. Slice a large sweet potato (I prefer the orange/yam variety) into 1cm thick slices in whatever direction that gives you the largest slice (lengthwise). Brush both sides with olive oil and pop into the toaster. It takes a couple of goes through the toaster while your eggs are cooking but the result is amazing.

That’s sounds great! What vege do you use to make your cheat pizza?

@S. Louise Barker thank you🙏. I’m in New Zealand and understood all of that perfectly. 😊
Vitamins and deficiencies
Hey guys!! New to being coeliac and taking care of myself in general. Beyond the prescribed medicines for deficiencies (I take iron and folic acid), what are the best vitamins and minerals to take that help coeliacs, or just people in general, function better?? Follow up question is what’s the best value for money? I’m a broke student so I don’t want to be spending unnecessary money! Thanks everyone, excited to be here 😊😊

I’m in the same boat Eira. Does anyone know of a coeliac’s multivitamin? I’ve got to admit, you give me more than 3 things to take per day and guaranteed I will start forgetting one of them or run out of one and not replace it until they’ve all run out 🤣🙄

@Julia Nicolle We’re having dual conversations about the same thing 😂 I’m in NZ and there are a lot of things that just don’t ship as far as we are. We do have pill containers however lol I just don’t like taking all those pills, I feel quite nauseous after. It’s what I’m trying to do now but I’m looking for a better & simpler alternative.
Celiac Multivitamin
I was wondering if anyone have heard of this Celiac Multivitamin from Inspire Gluten free? https://www.inspireglutenfree.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoq7sGmti4sMp5M6bj9hv-slXZTalGIrBxYv62tbrgg_CJe3WwtB This is their website and Im kind of curious if anyone else heard of it.

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’m looking forward to hearing from anyone who’s used it. I get so overwhelmed and lost in all the bottles of supplements on my shelf that I’ve just stop taking them. I also feel a little nauseous when I take loads of pills

@Julia Nicolle unfortunately it seems they don’t deliver to NZ. 😔
Newbie here
Hi everyone, I am very new to this and I’m currently stuck in the initial ‘feeling lost’ stage. I was originally tested for coeliac in 2017, as a blood test came back showing ‘positive’, however the endoscopy came back negative. Fast forward several years, my symptoms are worse, and at my post-op check up for my endometriosis surgery, I ask about endometriosis on the bowels. After listening to my symptoms, she felt I had IBD. More blood tests and a positive endoscopy later, I got my diagnosis just before Christmas. Marsh 1 coeliac disease. I did extensive research before my diagnosis, yet I still feel at a loss, I have no clue how to navigate this. Since being diagnosed and going gluten free, I have put on so much weight, now avoiding gf snacks full of sugar. I have since started my own baking due to the sheer cost of gf treats🥲 I am extremely fatigued ALL the time! I joined this group to see if others could help. I am open to your go-to’s, your ‘must avoids’, quick snacks for on the go that aren’t full of sugar, best places to shop, and anything that will get me through the day without falling asleep standing up! Any advice, tips and tricks are absolutely welcome!

I’m totally with you Rebecca. I’m 3 years into my diagnosis and I’m still working this out. In NZ our supermarkets are not nearly as well stocked as those closer to the major continents. My diagnosis to a while, it came the same time menopause hit. Trying to manage both I discovered a big game changer for me. What I learnt was that if you don’t eat within 30mins of waking, your cortisol (stress hormone) spikes in women. Dr Stacy Sims, who’s researched this extensively recommends a 30g protein shake first thing in the morning to settle your system. It’s amazing! I find it also gives me the fuel I need to get the day started, maybe do a lil workout and then make some breakfast.

Hi All My name is Rebecca or Becks & I live in New Zealand with my young son. I was diagnosed with CD nearly 3 years ago, around the same time the whole menopause thing hit along with PTSD. It was like running headlong into a brick wall! I’ve been looking for assistance to understand how to look after myself as a coeliac, what to do if I get glutened, what supplements would actually be helpful etc (there’s next to no assistance here unless you’re able to spend $$$). This group looks really exciting and I can’t wait to start learning a stronger way to live. Ngā mihi nui Becks
