Getting focused
Hello! I am so grateful to be a part of this group, but will be honest, I haven't been very engaged lately. I am a Functional Gut Practitioner and just did an updated gut test on myself and guess what??? I have a ton of markers that are out of range and would benefit from LESS animal based protein, and MORE plant based! I eat a ton of plants already, but need to add more legumes, grains, etc to rebuild my microbiome. Thank goodness for @Nadia Quraishi and this group because I knew exactly where to go to get things back on track!
I was eating really well. And I was exhausted.
A few years ago I went through a significant health challenge. Coming out the other side I became almost obsessive about eating well. Whole foods, plant-based, really mindful about everything I put in my body. On paper it looked like I was doing everything right. But I was skipping breakfast. I was doing extended intermittent fasting. And I was so focused on eating the right things that I was actually afraid to eat more. If I wasn't sure something was perfectly healthy, I'd just skip it. I wasn't fueling my body. I was controlling it. My workouts felt hard in a way that didn't feel productive. My energy was all over the place. And I kept telling myself I just needed to be more disciplined. The shift came when I started eating breakfast again. I know that sounds almost too simple. But I stopped the extended fasting and started focusing on protein and fiber first thing in the morning, and my body responded almost immediately. More energy. Workouts that actually felt good. A more stable mood. I felt like myself again. I learned later that extended fasting over time can affect hormone balance in women, and that a protein and fiber anchored breakfast is genuinely one of the best things you can do for your body after 40. My experience wasn't just personal. It was backed by the science. That's the foundation the 30-Day Plant-Based Reset is built on. Not eating less. Not a list of things to avoid. A real framework for fueling your body well, in a way that actually supports how a woman's body works at this stage of life. If any of this sounds familiar, I'd love to have you in the founding round. 20 spots at $147. Price goes to $197 after Thursday at midnight. Program starts March 15th. Drop a 🌱 in the comments if this resonates and I'll send you the link directly.

Mostly..... I tend to listen to my body and eat according to what I feel I need. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but do incorporate a lot of veggies into my meals. Last week I overbought veggies- got a little too excited at the grocery store- LOL. But it was exactly what my body was craving. I am playing around with my dinners- I don't love eating dinner because I go to bed really early and sleep much better with a fairly empty stomach. Trying to "front load" my food a bit more and eat most of my food before 3pm.

Not a big deal or a prepared meal, but I had THE BEST salad... Arugula, beet sauerkraut, lupini beans(Obsessed!), avocado, roasted brussels sprouts and pumpkin seeds.
Where do you get your tortillas?
I want to make freezer burritos, but I can't seem to find healthy tortillas or wraps. Everything I see in stores has shortening or a number of processed oils in them. I asked chatgpt to help me find healthy tortillas and it came up with some organic and/or whole wheat options including Food for Life, Siete, Mission, La Tortilla Factory, and Trader Joe's. BUT I can't find those near me 😅. Food for Life and Siete tend to fall apart on me. And then I saw Target had a decent looking option, but apparently they've been helping 🧊 so that's a no for me. Will I need to make my own burrito size tortillas from scratch? Or just suck it up and eat a bit of shortening tortilla. Let me know what you do!
