This week we’ve talked a lot about **your own standards**. But here’s the reality… Living by them isn’t always easy. Yesterday after making a promise, I made a decision to fully switch off and spend time with my son. If I’m honest, at first I felt guilty. Like I *should* be doing something else. Working. Catching up. Being “productive.” But one of my standards is being present with the people who matter most. So I stuck to it. And in the end? We had an amazing night. It reminded me of something important: **Your standards aren’t just about work — they’re about life.** Sometimes the standard is pushing harder. Sometimes the standard is being present. Both matter. Merry Christmas, everyone. Every year, my wife loves to make custom Christmas morning shirts with a phrase that encapsulates a main theme for the wearer during the last year. She nailed mine, as always.

Knocking out some yard work this morning I put on the last graphic T we had made for the band. It was part of the Will Rogers Highway (AKA Rt 66) 2026 centennial kick off celebration at our favorite local pub: J. Farley’s. One night a few years back as Tim and I were sitting on our bar stools (with our names on the back) I turned around and said “Hey Tim-looks like a Moose wandered in”. He swung around and a giant Moose was sure enough over the stage where we play. One of the owners was at the bar and Tim’s say’s. “Well that deserves a song”. My wife was the motivation for the German Leprechaun line. And Tim as was his custom, took the Ghost Riders tune and made a goofy lyric to fit. I would wager he might have written the only song on earth with the lyrics “Filled with Moose Lust”. Having spent last night with his three sons as they divided up my deceased buddy’s belongings, This shirt was exactly what I needed in this third day of Christmas.
