I hadn't realised I want to live in a tree house!!
ADHD a Broader Perspective 🧠
ADHD isn’t a lack of attention or focus, which is usually just the symptom. I’ve come to see it as a neuro-expansive nervous system operating without a regulator. And honestly, I’ve found myself wondering… what if ADHD isn’t pathology at all — but just a wider fuller bandwidth even a superpower? A system tuned to receive far more signal than society and the body knows how to hold. What I’ve seen again and again is this: neuro-expansive minds don’t struggle because they can’t focus. They struggle because their perceptual field is wide, porous, alive, Taking in micro-sensations, emotional currents from others around them, patterns, possibilities, futures… all at once. And when the body doesn’t feel safe enough to hold that much information, I see the same thing happen every time. The system fragments. This is where breathing, for me, stops being “calming" and starts being foundational. I’m constantly following research from places like the HeartMath Institute and other leading researchers and what stands out is this: Coherent breathing reorganises the entire flow of information between the heart, brain, and nervous system which absolutely includes the vagus nerve , serotonin production , gut microbiology, immunity. This alone shows how fundamental coherent breathing is and how it directly effects every area of our life. What I’ve found in neuro-expansive systems is that attention doesn’t actually want narrowing. This is the traditional pharmacutical approach of amphetamines , which i was on for over 12 years and yes they helped me fit into the box society has shaped for us but it also stunted my creativity, damaged my guts and caused me to try not taking the pills to increase my creativity but this would always be followed by unfounded awful suicidal ideation. A clear withdrawal effect from powerful and damaging drugs. But there is a better way , as really what we're dealing with is a sensitive and wide open unregulated system, It wants coherence. It wants a stable field to land in.

Is it okay to only come for an hour? I have (an impatient) family waiting downstairs...
Day 2/3/4
I am very interested in the practical body work. I've struggled with tension over the years and the breathing, sighing, clenching are very helpful in finding some release and expansion. I have yet to try the cold shower as described here, but have some experience with a quick shot at the end of a shower. It's challenging, but it's interesting to ask what exactly it is that finds it challenging. What is it that says an immediate no the experience.
Day 1 - Late!!
My ADHD brain misunderstood the start of this, so I'm going to compress this week... into a day I guess, I've just listened to the Day 1 recordings and find them very helpful. First, I'm grateful that they are audio only. I am realising that I much prefer listening, I can kind of dread videos for reasons I didn''t understand, but I think it's hard for me to sort the two strands of stimuli, audio and video. Also, the stop complaining and blaming suggestion is great. I feel like I've been filtering this idea in for years. I hear it now and understand that it is CLEARLY the best way to live. Funny how long it takes to digest an idea. It arrived in the recording and I was ready to fully receive it. Watch our diet of thoughts, don't go for the quick dopamine hit of reaction. Excellent. Driving in London today, I watched an appalling bit of behaviour behind the wheel. I wasn't fired up and reactive, but I did say to the driver in my head, "You are a jerk," while another part of me was saying to myself, "Don't do it Martha, don't think that." I mean, I did anyway, but it was sort of in internal slow motion and I knew I was dropping an unhelpful nugget into the astral. I'll clean it up. 😁

@Matthew Williamson I'm very keen to learn to experience ADHD as a super power rather than a hindrance, the spanner in the works.
