ADHD a Broader Perspective 🧠
ADHD isn’t a lack of attention or focus, which is usually just the symptom.
I’ve come to see it as a neuro-expansive nervous system operating without a regulator.
And honestly, I’ve found myself wondering…
what if ADHD isn’t pathology at all —
but just a wider fuller bandwidth even a superpower?
A system tuned to receive far more signal than society and the body knows how to hold.
What I’ve seen again and again is this:
neuro-expansive minds don’t struggle because they can’t focus.
They struggle because their perceptual field is wide, porous, alive,
Taking in micro-sensations, emotional currents from others around them, patterns, possibilities, futures…
all at once.
And when the body doesn’t feel safe enough to hold that much information,
I see the same thing happen every time.
The system fragments.
This is where breathing, for me, stops being “calming" and starts being foundational.
I’m constantly following research from places like the HeartMath Institute and other leading researchers and what stands out is this:
Coherent breathing reorganises the entire flow of information between the heart, brain, and nervous system which absolutely includes the vagus nerve , serotonin production , gut microbiology, immunity.
This alone shows how fundamental coherent breathing is and how it directly effects every area of our life.
What I’ve found in neuro-expansive systems is that attention doesn’t actually want narrowing.
This is the traditional pharmacutical approach of amphetamines ,
which i was on for over 12 years and yes they helped me fit into the box society has shaped for us but it also stunted my creativity, damaged my guts and caused me to try not taking the pills to increase my creativity but this would always be followed by unfounded awful suicidal ideation. A clear withdrawal effect from powerful and damaging drugs.
But there is a better way , as really what we're dealing with is a sensitive and wide open unregulated system,
It wants coherence.
It wants a stable field to land in.
When breath is shallow or erratic, I can feel the system staying busy:
threat-scanning
novelty-seeking
future-jumping
But when breathing becomes slow, rhythmic, heart-led…
I feel something subtle but an unmistakable shift.
After my mother in law died who I lived with for 14 years and was one of my favourite people on this world , my nervous system was shot, my system was stuck in fight or flight and it was exhausting, at one point i struggled to walk up the stairs ,
i struggled for nearly a year to come back to coherence when I finally found and started practicing the 3 nervous system reset breaths
( Free for all in the classroom)
There was a point where i felt the switch, it was like I could now breath 50% more , my inner rythem shifted from tight stressed, overwhelmed to ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
It was such a relief, Everything felt different 😌
Sensory inputs started to integrate instead of overwhelm.
Thought streams synchronised instead of scattering.
Awareness expanded, without losing its centre.
It felt like coming home to my full range to my full natural wide open exspansive driven , focused and creative self.
What I’ve seen echoed through consciousness research — including work associated with the Institute of Noetic Sciences — is that states of regulation aren’t passive.
They’re creative platforms.
When the nervous system settles, intelligence doesn’t reduce.
I see it reveal itself, inspiration flows, creativity and focus become flow states gifting me the ability to focus for 10+ hours so deeply and effortlessly.
Many neuro-expansive people tell me they notice the same things:
Focus arrives after regulation, not before
Creativity stabilises instead of burning out
Identity loosens, and something deeper takes the lead, this is important for all work in higher states of consciousness.
So I no longer feel that ADHD is asking for more structure from the mind. More lists ( although helpful 😉)
What I feel it’s asking for
is more safety in the body.
And I’ve come to experience breath as the missing interface,
The bridge between high-voltage perception and embodied powerful presence which is the foundation for reality creation.
And sometimes I really do wonder
whether what we call neuro-divergence
is actually neuro-expansion waiting for coherence or for use to remember how to breath.
Does any of this match what you’ve noticed?
