IWC Pilot Watches
Gents I need some advice. I'm torn between two pilot watches and I need some help deciding. I really like the Big Pilot 43 (the one below on the right with the strap). The problem is that it comes in at 43mm and I have fairly small wrists. I also would get it on a bracelet, not the strap as pictured. So my option is to then get the Mark XX (below on the left). I'm not crazy about the date window and I really like the oversized crown on the 43. My question is how do you feel about a slightly oversized watch?

@Christian Coker I’ve always dressed in a subtle way but I’ve never been scared to like what I like even if it isn’t conventional.

@Christian Coker it’s all for me 😂 I do think there’s a noticeable confidence that comes with owning your style. I’m sure you’ve seen some of the best dressed men who look like they’re shrinking. No confidence in who they are or how they present themselves. Then you can see a guy in jeans and a white t-shirt just command the room.
200 Pounds
Forgot to share this with you all (the end of last week turned into an auto repair cluster...) On Tuesday January 6th I hit a major milestone. I've now lost 200 pounds since August 23rd 2024.

That's amazing, congrats. Mind sharing how you did it?

@Joe MacAfee that’s awesome. That’s a big accomplishment, you’re going to have a great year!
Last Year’s Wins 🎉 This Year’s Focus 🎯
Gents, before we move too far into 2026, I want you to pause and look back intentionally. 1️⃣ Last Year Wins What’s 1–3 wins from last year you’re proud of? Doesn’t have to be massive. Progress counts — consistency, discipline, better decisions. Style upgrade you stuck with? A fragrance you finally made your signature? A watch milestone, collection refinement, or learning moment? A habit you strengthened, a distraction you cut, or a standard you raised 2️⃣ This Year’s Focus What’s 1–2 goals you’re deliberately committing to this year - not wishing for, but committing to? Could be... Sharpening your personal style as a form of self-respect Building a tighter, more intentional fragrance rotation Becoming more educated, patient, and disciplined with watches Showing up with more consistency - physically, mentally, and professionally Raising your standards in how you present yourself to the world Drop your wins and your focus below. Let’s build on what worked. And cut what didn’t!

Last year my wife and I purchased our first place to live after years of renting. This year I have an outrageous goal of climbing a v10 boulder (Rock Climbing goals). I always want to continue to grow my business and double my revenue this year.
Matching metals and watches
We've all heard that metals should match metals. Thus, a stainless steel watch shouldn't be worn with a blazer, gold-rimmed aviators, and gold rings. Given that many watches incorporate some gold into their design, where is the crossover point for acceptability? Is gilt on the dial, indicies, and hands, like the Black Bay 58? A two-tone watch that has gold prominently on the bezel and bracelet (if applicable), like the Datejust? Or is a fully gold toned/plated/actual gold watch required, like the PRX? Or are watches exempt from the rule altogether?

Little late, but I want to weight in. I think it really comes down to the execution of the time piece. Some all gold watches come across as gaudy while others are elegant and refined. I like the Tudor with gilt and I love Rolexes two tone execution in their models. Do you own those time pieces or are you/did you get one?
Introduce Yourself (ALL Intros HERE Please!)
OK, so by introducing yourself you are guaranteed to get to level 2 - it's really that easy and I LOVE learning more about the cool people in this group. Feel free to share where you're from, why you're here, what you do for a living, and what you like about style. Are you a watch guy, suit guy, fragrance guy, or maybe just getting started? Have fun here!

Hi everyone, I'm Ian. I'm a personal trainer and massage therapist. I currently have a personal training business in a small boutique gym in Toronto. I love active wear, as one might imagine, because that's what I'm in all day. I love watches, especially the ones I can't afford 😅. I'm really interested in adding more complexity to my style beyond the active wear that I currently have.
