Got my first pair of Cowboy boots...
Since I was down in Texas visiting my in-laws I decided to take advantage of the gigantic Boot Barn locations they have down here... Looked at a bunch of different Justins, Dan Posts, and Tony Lamas... I didn't want to go too flashy and ended up finding this pair of Dan Post Snyders that screamed "I'm your first cowboy boot!". Ended up getting them online for under $200...

@Peter Kokoszka No I didn't. My vacation in Peru was bookended with time at my in-laws' in Texas. I shopped a bunch of brands at Boot Barn in Weatherford. Liked the feel of the Dan Posts I'd tried there, then found the Snyders on their website. While I was in Peru the price dropped on them from Amazon. I pulled the trigger from there (I was at our hotel in Macchu Picchu Pueblo when I ordered) and had them shipped to Texas. I'm in Massachusetts, BTW. Just moved there from Philadelphia about a month ago.

Back in November 😬 @Antonio Centeno sent me a very nice thank you for supporting the group as a premium member. When I received it I was both shocked and perplexed... Shocked at the generous gift, and perplexed with how to best use it. Now to explain: Some of you may know I'm in the middle of a weight loss journey that started at 570 pounds in August 2024. As of today I've lost 217 pounds, with about 93-123 pounds remaining to get to my goal range. I found Antonio's channel when I started shopping for new clothes, trying to figure out who I am stylistically. The gifts, by the way, are a Navy Silk Knit Livingston Tie, Stainless Tie Bar, and Berlin Paisley Pocket Square from The Dark Knot. Needless to say, in this transitional period, suits have not been a part of my current wardrobe, hence the conundrum... I've finally decided what I'm going to do with these gifts, and I hope that I'm doing them justice. When I stabilize in that goal range, I'm going to celebrate by, among other things, getting my first proper suit, in dark grey herringbone, with an equally suitable pair of Chelseas to go with it... @Antonio Centeno , thanks again for the gift. I really appreciate it. I'll be sure to share the milestone with the group when I reach it.

@Omari Heflin I was looking around for some good process pics for you. The perfect one dropped in my lap when I needed to renew my passport... Here's some pics starting with my 2016 passport pic through to a few days ago:

Monterey Highball and Swag
Arriving early September! Some watches are built for the summit. The Highball is built for the hour after. This is your Friday watch. Your rooftop watch. Your "one more round" watch. The Highball doesn't take itself too seriously — and that's exactly the point. Bold enough to get noticed across the bar, relaxed enough to wear all weekend without a second thought. Because not every adventure involves crampons and altitude. Sometimes it's just good company, a cold drink, and nowhere to be until Monday. Wear it well. Drink responsibly. Technical Specifications: Movement: Seagull ST-3600 manual-wind mechanical Case: 42mm diameter Lug Width: 22mm Crystal: Domed sapphire Caseback: Display caseback Special Swag with order when using RMRS member code: Monterey Watch Co. @Scott Critchfield I know Scott, but my COBRA payments are $1300/mo. and I've been out of work since mid April... I've got an in-person 3rd interview that gets scheduled when I get home next week. I'm hoping this is the one.
I don’t wear a hat often…..
….headed off to Greece with my kids. Needed something to keep the sun off my face & head. I find function is the easiest way to justify trying a new style. Any other hat wearers in the house? Anyone else taking a break this month?

Style Battle: Navy Suit vs. Charcoal Grey Suit? (Pick One & Why)
Gentlemen, if you could only own ONE suit for the rest of your life, which would it be? 👔⚔️ Two iconic suit colors. Two very different statements. And every well-dressed man has an opinion. THE NAVY SUI: Versatile, confident, and universally flattering. Navy reads as both formal and approachable, making it equally at home in a boardroom, at a wedding, or on a first date. Pair it with brown shoes for a classic look, or white sneakers for a modern edge. It's the suit that does everything. THE CHARCOAL GREY SUIT: The ultimate power suit. Serious, authoritative, and razor-sharp. Charcoal grey carries an undeniable gravitas that navy simply can't match — it's the suit you wear when you need to command a room. With a white shirt and black shoes, it's untouchable. The question: Which suit earns the single spot in your wardrobe — and why? Vote your pick below 👇 and tell me what outfit you'd build around it!

I find it hilarious that my first confident vote puts me solidly in the minority... The suit I'm buying to celebrate hitting goal weight is going to be charcoal herringbone, so that's obviously what I'm going with.
