Understanding Fragrances And Fragrance knowledge growth!!!
Real question for the bros: how much experience does it take to really understand fragrances? Not just “I like it / I don’t like it,” but like… getting notes, structure, quality, and being able to describe stuff accurately. Rough timeline (just a general guide): - 0–30 scents (a few weeks–couple months): learning basics + what you naturally gravitate toward - 30–100 (few months–~1 year): things start clicking—families, common notes, “this smells synthetic/this smells quality.” - 100–300 (~1–3 years depending on how active): you start speaking the language—structures, styles, materials, and better descriptions - 300+ + lots of re-wears: deeper level—nuance, weather/skin differences, concentration, reformulations, perfumer styles What made it click for you personally? Decants/samples, side-by-sides, wearing in different weather, note training—whatever helped you level up fastest.

@Renato Carotti This is what I think I need to do. Have the base materials in front of me and labeled. It's hard to get a grasp of certain scents after they're already mixed. Example - I have a basic idea of what vetiver smells like but I need pure vetiver to really understand it.
Collection Pics
Was looking through collection pics for inspiration, and honestly, it helps a ton—both for smarter purchases and for knowing who to ask when I’m curious about a fragrance. I feel like collection posts are one of the best resources we have here (and decants are always welcome too—best way to build fragrance knowledge without going all-in). If you’re up for it, I’d love to see some updated collection pics in this thread—kind of like what @George Hernandez has done in the past and @Michael Marchand has just done recently It’s a great way for newer/rising brothers (and those of us who haven’t connected much yet) to get a better sense of everyone’s taste and what knowledge you bring to the table. A picture really does say a thousand words, and it makes the interactions in the brotherhood feel more personal and connected. If you haven’t posted a collection pic in a while and feel like sharing, I’d especially enjoy seeing yours: @Elliott Jones , @Srinesh C m , @Bryan Wong , @Adeel Arif , @Ferdinand De Dobbelaere , @Calvin Ng , @Craig Stevenson , @Mike Jermann , @Roland Wright , @Tim Nicklis , (No pressure at all—only if you feel like it.) I’ll add more names as I keep browsing, but mainly wanted to start a spot where we can all share collections for inspiration and better convo. Appreciate you all.

Next month will be one year in this group! Bottles are mostly designers and clones. Cooler weather on the left moving to warmer on the right. (For the most part). Drawers are decants and samples. Mixture of niche (all my niche frags are decants), designer and clones in no particular order.
SOTD: Guerlain L'Homme Idéal EDP
I splurged recently on a number of decants to sample. This is my first Guerlain fragrance. I like the sweetness and cherry from the outset, but then it settles into a more subtle vanilla and nuttiness. I really like it. If you have experience with the other fragrances in this line, which are your favorites?

I just got a decant of this myself and really like it a lot. Has me interested in the rest the house has to offer.
Prada Paradigme
Good morning BOS Today I decided to wear this beauty, it’s very versatile, you can use this any time of the year. It smells fresh, woody and musky, I went heavy on the trigger with the sprays though 😅. Last time I wore it a had a compliment. This would be my signature scent of 2026.

When it all comes down to it - this one smells GREAT. I overspray this one too for a little more "Oomph". (As I do with most of the similar designer "mass-appealers".
SOTD - YSL MYSLF L'Absolu
Stopped into Sephora at Kohls yesterday to get my nose on a few scents (specifically Burberry Hero Elixir - really nice, BTW) and after it all, wound up getting the 10ml travel size MYSLF L'Absolu. Now, MYSLF EDP is one of my top fragrances and I've smelled L'Absolu before but always thought from the quick store samples that it was redundant (and the price point is kind of ridiculous). Something in my brain (or nose) clicked this time and being they had the travel size I said to myself "Let's give it a real shot". (And at checkout I found out I had a $10 off coupon which made the purchase more palatable). I'm really glad I did - there's just an extra smoothness in the L'Absolu that isn't in the EDP and the ginger note gives it that extra something special with the DNA of the EDP definitely there. Performance seems way better on me than the EDP. So far, this one could move ahead of the EDP for me. Full bottle worthy? Once it hits discounters - yes. On a side note - I tried this against a decant I have of it's dupe, Dumont Nitro Elixir. And the Dumont doesn't hold a candle to the original.
