Happy White Dial Wednesday! It's August. It's been very hot with withering humidity for a long stretch of days. I feel my skin starting to dry out. So I woke up this morning feeling kind of beachy. Today’s WOTD is one of those watches that reminds me why the Omega Speedmaster Professional has such staying power. This one is just an incredibly easy grab. On the bracelet, the Speedmaster has that classic tool-watch feel. But put it on a brown leather strap and the personality changes just enough. It softens the watch, warms it up, and suddenly it works just as naturally with a sport coat or suit as it does with something much more casual. That versatility is probably one of the things I appreciate most about it. There are plenty of watches that feel like they need the right outfit or the right occasion. The Speedmaster really doesn’t. It has enough history and presence to always feel special, but it never feels like it’s trying too hard. And I think the brown strap gives it a little more personality without taking away any of what makes a Speedmaster a Speedmaster. For me, that makes it one of the easiest watches in the collection to reach for. Casual? Absolutely. Sport coat? Easy. Suit? I’d wear it without thinking twice.
