Red Runwell Wednesday 🚨🌶️🍒
I was inspired by @Sean Kavanaugh to wear my rare, red dial Shinola Runwell today.

What a great looking dial, nice bright red, bold white numbers and markers, I love it!

No longer produced and only available thru 3rd party vendors, I nonetheless enjoy this watch. It is an automatic movement with a date and day with AM/PM complication. The crown changes the time and date, and a small button above the crown changes the day AM/PM.

🕰️ Watch Fact: The Origin of the Brushed Finish
Before the 1950s, most watches were fully polished - shiny, elegant, made for dress wear. Then sports and tool watches came along. Pilots, divers, and field watch wearers needed something tougher - a finish that wouldn’t glare in sunlight or show every scratch. That’s when the brushed finish took over. It wasn’t just a design choice - it was functional. The texture hides wear, reduces reflection, and gives a rugged look that still feels refined. Even today, a brushed case says utility and confidence, while polished screams luxury and attention. 👉 Are you team Brushed (toughness) or Polished (presence)? Drop your watch pic below 👇

Most of my watches have a brushed finish. Brushed finishes are more forgiving of minor scratches and surface imperfections. They also hide wear and dirt better. The polished finish shows every scratch and even dust appears unsightly on the surface. I think the dial and strap play a bigger part that case finish as far as formal or informal appearance.
WOTD: Hurlingham H 10961 B
A nice winding watch with a glass back so you can be mesmerized by the movement. I don’t know much about the brand. It is a birthday present from my son.

My WOTD, an Orient EU07-001-A T.
It has both a slide rule and calendar. Generally I prefer a little less clutter on the dial, but this one just called to me.

@Nora Turpen I have two more similar to this but they are getting serviced. Typically I wear either my Seiko 5 SNK series field watches or Orient Bambino watches.

My primary goal here is to learn about style, incorporate it into my life, and be a better man than I am now.
