Incredible Question
I had an important question submitted:
"The idea of letting go the need for sleep and accepting whatever the night brings is refreshing and helpful to calm anxiety. In this world of acceptance of whatever the night brings, however, how do you measure progress--I imagine it is not by the time slept or time slept vs time in bed? So, how to get a sense if this letting go is working?"
Thanks for asking this! This is exactly right, measuring our progress through time slept or time spent in bed is the opposite metric we are looking for. This comes in time as we continue to foster more peace, ease, presence. Good Sleep is the product of a regulated nervous system.
So a good way to measure this is checking in with how you feel. "Do i feel more peaceful or at ease?" This is a great question to stay close to. Because the changes are incremental it can sometimes be hard to tell but over time you'll be able to notice. The more peaceful you feel, will ultimately turn into better quality and more time sleeping.
Because i don't recommend sleep trackers I also suggest to look at how rested I felt that day and how my mood was. This will tell you more than any tracker.
Hope this helps🙏
