I recently took a Keys to Black Self-Love course and learned the many ways I haven't loved myself as a woman darker than blue. The bio shared here (courses have long version) discloses my past jobs at many Black organizations, including the National Council of Negro Women. Please keep reading -- I will join these two concepts! Nya Akoma means, Get a Heart, Love... or Be Patient, in Twi, the language of the Akan. One of my teachers, breathologist Mama Ayo Handy-Kendi, created Black Love Day 33 years ago, when she created the African American Holiday Association. (breathe w/her in our Reiki course) Because I LOVE dealing with every single person as a SOUL, it takes work to stretch my compassion to encompass, embrace, disclose the influence and importance of my heritage. Ah, yes. This IS the work. I notice Skools are hosted by a sea of people not of my (visible) background. Yet we all may have to care for elderly, special needs children or adults, or special groups that are our assignment. Working together WORKS! We can learn from one another-->this is the point. Knowing me doesn't take away from you, or from you knowing who you are. My self-love, this AKOMA, is bigger than mainstream fear. All those groups I've worked for were about fearlessly learning and growing into the best of who we are, despite "other than blue" factors, e.g., White people, the social construct, etc.. This B&W thing points to the collective healing of the human being. I surrender to my role in this part. This is a spiritual quest. At least, it's part of mine. BTW - Why adinkra symbols are NOT a part of the emoji line-up baffles me! The heart is NOT to be closed in. Open hearts y'all. I welcome comments.

Anything that happens to those most despised by misguided leaders and systems, eventually affects and occurs, like a boomerang, to the perpetrators. This is an aspect of the law of resonance. "What goes around comes around," as the saying goes. This video shares a bit of ugliness and I'm sharing it bc we cannot ignore WHY we do this self-healing work for caregivers. My cousin has raised her autistic son to manhood. There are ways to promote the functionality. Yet, what does she do to restore her own energy-->you see why we must help one another? I don't know what she does and must reach out! How much has the controversy affected your family? This is a thought-seed not a quickie seeking fast reply. I truly wish we would all recognize one another as SOULS, but until that time, self-love has to take its place uppermost in consciousness. This is true for all people, and especially for us Blacks of African descent who were brought West from the East. There is a corner, shadow, covered recess, broken branch of self knowledge that effectively removes the 100% acceptance of ourselves that would qualify as self-love. Defeating and sabotage behaviors reveal this “missing”, and healing it is a prerequisite or at least parallel track to self-healing as taught in HealMobile courses.
