Learning from a funeral

I had to attend a funeral mid-morning, so I wore my blue blazer to work today. When I first got re-established on this sartorial journey several years ago, this blazer - I learned that this was a great piece to add early on - was my first real purchase. I was learning about fit and how you can have things adjusted to find that fit. This was the first time I attempted those steps. Because of that, I felt good about myself every time I put it on.

Over time, my style changed and grew, as did my wardrobe options. I leaned on those newer choices more and didn't wear the blazer as much. Today was the first time I put it to use in a while. Putting it on, I viewed it through the lens of the knowledge I've gained, especially through this community. I still felt good when I put it on, but I now recognize how things could be better.

For now, it will stay in my closet. It still works good enough for those occasions when I might need it. But my mindset is already moving to finding a better option sometime relatively soon and putting what I've learned into being able to put my best foot even further forward.

This blazer was a fantastic first step. But now I'm ready for the next step.
