Using External Visual Cues and Constraints for Hurdles
In this session, we are working with a 10 year old hurdler, so improve her hurdle clearance time and speed between the hurdles. She was taking off too far back and driving up too high, rather then “through the hurdle”. 1️⃣ we used ones to give her a take-off zone 2️⃣once she was getting her lead leg down in a better area, we showed video and cued her to push her lead knee down and used cones for a “landing zone” 3️⃣ arms were twisting in the air, causing hip rotation and an off balance landing 4️⃣ We put the mini hurdles in to narrow the landing area and to act as “bumpers”. The athlete straightened up after a couple of reps and felt faster. 5️⃣ Feeling more confident, she was able to generate more speed and attack the hurdles, without hesitation. ✅✅✅✅✅
