Yesterday was epic! We concluded the first round of the Max The Mic SpeakOff and each presenter was soooo good. I woke up so excited and it overflowed into a 7AM coaching session… in the session I reflected on yesterday…
Yesterday morning was a powerful time with FBI agents and support teams at Quantico, I swung by a nearby college (Randolph Macon College) to pitch a potential speaking opportunity.
I didn’t get the full conversation I wanted…
But I did harvest a few good emails. 📩
Then this morning, during that 7AM coaching session with one of my speaker clients, I said something worth sharing:
Your Email List Isn’t Just a List—It’s a Strategy.
If you want more bookings and brand growth, you need to treat your list like a system, not a suggestion.
Here’s how I break down my email list: (I use Kartra and jotform). I have a
🔹 1. Community List – People in your world already (clients, registrants, etc.). Serve them well.
🔹 2. Target List – Places you want to speak. Build it from websites, events, and networks. Follow up consistently.
🔹 3. Past Client List – Stay in touch monthly with those you’ve served before. Repeat business lives here.
🔹 4. Catch-All List – Rarely used, but powerful when needed. Send broad encouragement or announcements to all.
🎯 And for every list—segment it. Make your emails relevant, not random.
The fortune isn’t just in the follow-up…
It’s in the focused follow-up.
