I bought my first Rada knife at a flea market for like $3. The sales pitch was heavy and we figured we'd gotten suckered (also bought the sharpener).
TWENTY YEARS LATER, we're still using the same knife and sharpener! They are amazing, and we've since gotten a few more. My dad was a total kitchen snob, and once complimented the chef's knife. My dad has been gone 15 years. I'm still using that same knife. Good as new.
Part of prepping food means you need good knives. Dull knives don't cut well, and increase your risk of injury. And they make the task slower and less enjoyable and less efficient.
These knives come with their own sharpener, as inexpensive as the knives, so you don't have to take them anywhere to get them professionally done, which I find never lasts.
We got an expensive set of Wustof (sp?) knives as a wedding gift. It it were up to me, I'd give them all away. They're good - but they need frequent sharpening professionally, and who has time for that?
Big sale, if you care to explore.
