Tough news to share...
You may have noticed I have been quiet for a few days, and anyone who knows me knows that I am open about life and the hard things that can come at us. I just needed space to process first. This past week we lost our little sister Emily, and our family has surrounded each other (we have a full house) to love and support each other though this tragedy that will forever change us all. Emily was an incredible artist, singer and musician. She saw the world in her own unique way. And although she struggled with a lot of demons, her ability to see the beauty around her and imbue that into her creative outlets was endless. She will be deeply missed. The service is this Friday, and right now we are just leaning into each other and this time together. This community is very important to us, and I am keeping an eye on things from a distance. πŸ’š I would love if you all would keep things going - share, ask questions, show up for each other. (This picture is the first pyramid picture we did with all the siblings, and we have taken many more of these over the years, but this takes me back. Emily is in the middle.)

No Wellness Wednesday Hangout Today
I was looking forward to our new time today, but we are dealing with a family crisis and I won't be able to host a call today. I hope everyone is taking care of themselves. πŸ’š

Saturday Check-in
Just saying hi and seeing how your weekend is going? Sometimes the lack of structure on the weekends can be more challenging than the work week. How are you utilizing your down time? We went for a long walk and spent some time at the park. I am getting some stuff done around the house and am mixing in some puzzling. How about you?

@Janet Frank Fun! I've only ever been to Yankee Stadium (original and refurbished) and Fenway. It's hard to keep up with the players with all the trading.

@Jeanna Finch other than an in-person hockey game, there's no better sporting event to me than an in-person baseball game. Weird how professional athletes seemed so old to me when I was a kid and now every last professional athlete on the ice or the field could be MY kid. Yikes...time flies!!
Have you built self-care into your gameplan for the week?
I often hear, "I am too busy for __________." This could be meal prep, movement, mindful time, or even pausing and taking a few deep breaths. If we treat these things as optional, then we will always have a reason to not follow through. What if these things are scheduled on your calendar, and are treated as nonnegotiables? πŸ€” You plan other appointments and tasks around these items, meaning they are a priority. Have you tried that? What else has worked for all of you to keep these healthy habits front of mind? Share your thoughts on the calendar idea and your ideas and maybe we can help someone here who needs some support!

@Jeanna Finch yes, though I am hoping I won't need the bone healing to become a long-term habit! πŸ€ͺ

@Jenny Lang just so you know... there is at least one other person on this thread that has conversations with herself! I love the quotes at the end of your message. So important!
Member Question - How to plan for super busy times...
Speaking of planning ahead, per our earlier post, a member is having a really crazy week (and beyond) with an intense work schedule (she is the business owner too), and she asked for ideas for fast meals that are on plan (think quality protein, veggies and healthy fats, just like we talk about). I know this community has some ideas, so let's hear 'em! What are some go tos for you when you have very limited time to cook and prepare? This is where members get to really help other members, so don't be shy!

My go-to is ground beef sauteed in a pan with seasoning (salt, pepper, and Italian or chili powder). Steamed broccoli. If you do starches, throw a potato in the microwave or even better, throw potatoes in the crock pot and let them cook during the day (or even the previous over night). Simple but tasty and nourishing.
