A lonely DM wonders into a bookstore…
Hey all, new to the community. Finally picked up Proactive Roleplaying yesterday at Barnes and Nobles after having it on my Amazon wishlist. Super excited to be here! Been DMing D&D 5e(2014) for the last couple of years and finally started my first homebrew campaign in a homebrew setting.
Assassins Creed Black Flag & Pirates of and Caribbean meet Lovecraftian horrors. We just wrapped session 4 this past Saturday and have kind of been guiding my party through their first quest get to the know a part of the region they’re starting in. Basically it’s more or less a prologue. I wanted the party to get a home base and a ship so they could travel around and explore the region. Their first quest is discovering what’s actually going on in the world.
It'll probably wrap up in 3-4 more sessions and at that point based will introduce them to the actual major threat of the region and possibly the world.
We’re going on a break around May or June and will resume probably around the beginning of the next year. My wife(player) and I are expecting around July. So we wanted to take about 6 months to adjust to being parents before continuing the campaign. Once we resume, I’m hoping to take what I’ve learned from reading Proactive Roleplaying and put it to use. Hoping that I can work with the party and start developing goals since by the time we break, they’ll have 10 sessions in and have a feel for what the world is like.
Anyways happy to be here and looking forwards to learning and absorbing as much as I can.
