Supplements
I’m expanding my knowledge on supplements related to longevity. I currently use collagen powder, creatine + taurine, greens, multivitamins, Vit D, probiotics. I do try to find scientific evidence to support the claims of each supplement. Recently I’m reconsidering my creatine supplements after watching this: https://youtu.be/V543RNgjeEI?si=kC6hHBGT7XIS79xg. Given positive effects on recovery from acute exercise, might consider taking it when I walk the Camino from Porto to Santiago. Would love others experience on these additional supplements: - Mitopure - Qualia - Amra - Co-enzyme Q10 - NAD+ (seems not to make a major impact https://youtu.be/P-5645n4SA0?si=CC-tpFDfHah8A5uZ) *As someone who has written scientific literature, the videos in the links are truly well done even pointing out how data might be “enhanced” (checkout the red light therapy video - summary is it works - whew!) by simple changes in the range on the axis - I know as a reviewer for medical journals I have seen this.

January CGM Program
Hi everyone. We wanted YOU to be the first to gain access for our January Blood Sugar Optimization CGM program. Brian and I have done this program in the past and it was so much fun. If there has been one item that truly changed everything for me(and Brian), it was the knowledge we received from wearing a glucose monitor. Here's an article I wrote about the impact it had on me: https://www.fostering101.com/post/when-your-doctor-tells-you-to-chill-the-fuck-out-just-not-in-those-exact-words-you-listen Here's how the program works: The program is a 4 week program. You will wear a CGM for all 4 weeks. You register and pay the fee. You receive a code to purchase your CGM through our preferred vendor. Once all CGM's have been received, we pick a date to put them on and kick off the program - sometime in January. We meet weekly on Zoom (schedule pending) with our resident nutritionist and functional medicine doctor for Q&A's. All calls will be recorded for those who can not attend although we highly recommend you attending in person. You will receive a link each week to watch a prerecorded session on different topics related to your CGM and how to manage blood sugar. We will share recipes and a food shopping list for those looking to switch things up a bit. Here's an outline of what we will cover in the program: Week 1: What is a CGM and why you should wear one Overall education on blood sugar What to look for in your daily stats How is blood sugar tied to health and longevity Tips for week 1 with your monitor Week 2: Results Overview What your results might be telling you Food List Recipes Eating Tips How to start optimizing Week 3: Switching things up What to avoid How to manage cravings Intermittent Fasting 101 and how it impacts your blood sugar Supplements Week 4: How to maintain good levels Things to watch out for moving forward Habits to incorporate into your life
Healthy Thanksgiving Recipe Share - My Paleo Pumpkin Pie
Have you got a healthy Thanksgiving recipe - sides, desserts? Drop your recipe below. Here's mine: Paleo Pumpkin Pie (Paleo Running Momma - with my changes) Ingredients For the Paleo pie crust: - 1 cup blanched almond flour - 2 Tbsp coconut flour sifted - 2/3 cup tapioca flour - 1/2 cup grassfed butter - 1 Tbsp coconut sugar (will darken crust) - 1/2 tsp fine grain sea salt - 1 egg For the Filling: - 15 oz can pumpkin puree - 2/3 cup full fat coconut milk blended - 6 Tbsp pure maple syrup or a tbsp or 2 more or less depending on how sweet you want it. I use 4 Tbsp - 2 tsp pure vanilla extract - 1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice - 1 tsp cinnamon - Pinch salt - 2 large eggs room temp - 1 egg yolk room temp Instructions Make the Crust: 1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.  In the bowl of a food processor, pulse all crust ingredients EXCEPT egg to create thick crumbs, then pulse/process in the egg until a dough forms. 2. Gather the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic, and chill in the refrigerator at least 20 minutes prior to rolling or pressing into your pie dish. 3. To get the dough into your pie dish, you can either: 4. Roll out the dough into a circle between two sheets of parchment. Place your pie dish upside-down over the dough, then using the bottom parchment paper, flip the dough into the dish. Finish by pressing it into the bottom and sides of the pie dish to fit - this dough will break easily since it lacks gluten, however it also repairs incredibly easily and can withstand a lot of manipulation without affecting the final product!** 5. If you don't wish to roll out the dough (or find it tricky) you can simply press evenly into 9 inch pie dish using your hands.  Be patient and refrigerate dough as needed to make it easier to work with** 6. Once pressed into the pie dish, gently pierce the dough with a fork all over so it doesn't puff up while baking. 7. Bake pie crust in 9” pie dish in the 375 degree oven for 10 minutes until bottom is set, remove from oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before pouring in filling.
Alcohol
It’s been almost 2 years since I went cold turkey and stopped drinking. This is the podcast that changed my life. lf you’re considering this change in your life, I highly recommend listening to this. If you are not ready, my advice is to at least start drinking clean alcohol and wine. There is a huge sale going on this week at Scout & Cellar - https://scoutandcellar.com/?u=5ococktail I’m not demonizing alcohol or glorifying it. May heart wants to make sure you’re educated. Fruit/Veggie Washing. This is a thing, right!?
As a parent with young kids there’s only so many things we can think about in the day and historically fruit and veggie washing was never one of them! It is easier to be oblivious and give a quick wipe/rinse. After installing reverse osmosis under the sink and a whole house filtration system which is a whole other topic, I finally pulled the trigger and am starting to formally wash our fruit and veggies. I grabbed this Eco plant powered fruit and veggie wash from uncle Giuseppe‘s and have been getting into the habit of doing this the moment we get home before putting them away. We try and shop organic whenever possible. Am I crazy or is this a thing? Anyone else?? @Hayley Foster what say you. 🤣
