Yesterday I had a real talk with my family about eating out. Between my daughterโ€™s cravings and my partnerโ€™s stress eating after mentally draining days, weโ€™ve been eating out 2โ€“3 times a week, and I realized itโ€™s been affecting my progress.
I shared that I have about 15 more pounds to lose, and this last stretch is the hardest. I want to compromise and still enjoy family time, but I also need support with my goals.
I also shared this struggle with Coach Aaron, and he reminded me that when everyone is tired, the path of least resistance wins. His guidance was to make home meals easier by keeping zero-effort, 10-minute staples ready: pre-cooked chicken, frozen cauliflower rice, salad kits, or quick protein options. That way, we save money, save energy, and I can still protect my deficit.
After our family talk, my daughter and partner agreed we can eat out once a week on Sundays. I felt so relieved ๐Ÿฅฒ because it showed me they support my goals.
Then today I told my daughter, โ€œWeโ€™re eating my meal prep for dinner.โ€
She said, โ€œNo Mommy, we agreed to eat out only on Sundays, and I want pho.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚
Of course kids remember things when it benefits them! I was low-key hoping she forgot today was Sunday. ๐Ÿคฃ
But honestly, this was a big win. Sometimes progress is about having the hard conversations, asking for support, and setting up your environment to make the healthier choice easier.
P.S.
I ordered house special pho without the noodles. Protein style. I asked for steamed bean sprouts as a replacement for my noodles ๐Ÿœ
