💚 Learning to Slow Down 🌿
SOMETIMES WINNING MEANS SLOWING DOWN… EVEN WHEN YOU REALLY DON’T WANT TO!
If you know me, you know I LOVE pushing myself in the gym. So, having shoulder pain and wanting to go hard but knowing I can't right now? Honestly, it pains me more than I can explain! 😩😂
My head wants to push, my determination wants to keep going, but my body is telling me to be patient.
And as frustrating as that is, I know the sensible thing to do is ride this wave rather than fight it. 🌊
Being officially BBB'd makes this feel even more personal. BBB has become such an important part of my journey, and one thing I'm learning is that progress isn't always about pushing harder. Sometimes it's about trusting the process, giving yourself grace and remembering why you're doing this in the first place.
Of course, I'd rather be lifting heavier, pushing harder and giving it everything I've got! But I also know that being consistent for the long term matters far more than winning one workout.
And then I had a little perspective shift…
💭 I could focus on what I CAN'T do, or be grateful for what I CAN do.
My physio has said I can continue with all my exercises, just using lower weights and paying attention to how I feel before and after each workout.
That's something to be grateful for! 🙌
I can still show up. I can still build consistency. I can still work towards my goals. I just need to respect my body and accept that, for now, my version of progress might look a little different.
And that's what slow and steady wins the race means to me right now. It's not about giving up, losing momentum or settling for less. It's about making adjustments, staying committed and understanding that one difficult wave doesn't define the whole journey.
I'm learning that I don't have to prove how hard I can push every single time. Sometimes, the real strength is knowing when to ease off so I can keep moving forward. 💚
So, BBB crew, I want to ask you… 👇
Have you ever desperately wanted to go hard, push through and give it everything, but had to stop, slow down or change your approach?
How did you deal with that frustration? And how did you remind yourself that slowing down doesn't mean giving up?
I'd love to hear your experiences, because I know I'm not the only one who sometimes has to remind themselves to be patient! 💚🌿
