Sunday strength day looked a little different today because I got to visit my sister’s gym community while I’m in Sacramento. I asked my sister what time she could get me access to the gym, and she said, “Whenever you want.” So of course I said 8:30am because that gave me just enough time to sleep in a little, recover, and still get my strength workout done. While I was already at the gym, she texted me pictures of Disney tennis plushies because she knows her sister is a big Disney fan 😂. I told her, “Go back to sleep. Why are you texting me?” She said she couldn’t sleep, so I told her to come join me. And guess what? She actually said yes 😆. I was so excited because not only did she show up, but I got to help her with a few things too. I gave her some tips on the lat pulldown and showed her how to adjust the length so she doesn’t struggle like I do. Except let’s be real… she’s much taller than me, so her struggle is not the same short-girl struggle 😂. I also helped her with her form because I noticed she was shrugging. I told her to relax her shoulders and think about bringing her shoulder blades together in the back. She was so happy that I was able to help her, and she said she felt really good after the workout. I told her, “Nobody regrets putting in a good workout,” and I was honestly so proud of her for showing up even when she didn’t really want to. She is not a morning person, and since I’m visiting, I know I kind of throw off her routine. So today’s reminder: keep showing up, even when your routine looks different. You may inspire someone else to show up too, and you may surprise yourself with a PR along the way. And since my sister normally doesn’t eat breakfast, I’ve also been making her my boring fitness meal: Greek yogurt, Envy apples, strawberries, blueberries, Thai bananas, and a boiled egg. Boring meals, Disney texts, sister bonding, and a strength day, …I’ll take that as a Sunday win 🫶💪
