Dipstick o-ring
I’ve bought a couple dipstick o-rings through Cummins and they keep tearing on me. I used the ESN to look up the part number so it’s not wrong. Am I doing something wrong? I put oil on the oring and in the hole in block and gently press and try to work the dipstick around to evenly push it in. This is the only thing holding me up. I’m ready to put some right stuff on the dipstick and call it a day. Is there any issues with doing that instead of using an o-ring?

Paper gasket vs Gasket Maker
For Rear Main Housing, and Front Gear Box (not the outer cover), is anyone using permatex or RTV, instead of the paper gaskets? I think the seal would be better and hold up longer, but also seems tricky to pull off the right way. Thoughts? Thanks, SW
Oil galley plug
I accidentally stumbled across Rob’s video on oil galley plugs. The video where apparently someone had multiple plugs in. Anyways I popped the rear plug out before installing my engine and ran a borescope and was wondering if this plug (the one behind the timing cover) is in too deep? I think it’s bottomed out against the lip. Sorry about picture quality got distorted when transferring to my phone

Meet the new truck of the fleet
Just picked us up for my buddy 2006 5.9 truck 48RE four-wheel-drive. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’ll do for what we’re gonna use it for.
