Orings vs fire rings
I was working on oring some heads today and thought I should do a quick video https://youtu.be/7KWmGYT7cCo?si=d3QXG24JcjiqbmCv

@Eric Fuller that’s what I figured but actually Cummins and Mahle show two different head gasket, standard and over sized. Dfc today he would be surprised that my mahle oversized gasket I used 3 yrs ago never failed. Supposedly my fire ring was sealing but sounded like it shouldn’t have.

For a long time I ran 425 torqued down to 140 lbs. no o ring head at that time and twin turbos with good amount of boost. Took a while before head gasket went
Mains and rod’s bearings
Most guy use normal MAHLE main and rod bearing or go towards H series? I’ve always used the typical normal ones. My 5.9 is ripped apart with #6 slapped the wall. So it’s rebuild time. If it matters it over 1100hp
Knocking
2006 5.9 During the winter I ran it low on oil. When some knocking started shut it down. Added about 6 ltrs of oil and very shortly the knocking went away. Drove 25min then dropped the mixed oil and it was kinda sluggy draining. Thought I would fill about 10 ltrs of atf and ran only about 4 idle min. Dropped it and fresh 5/40 and filter. Ever since then knocking has been present. Parked all winter. Just rolled in new rod bearings and fresh oil with same knock. Cylinder walls didn’t really show anything. I’ve got 60psi oil pressure at idle. Disconnected inj one by one and cp3’s. My question is next steps, pull inj and Borascope and see if there something I see or drop pan again and head and see about wrist pin loose or excessive piston slap?

Well I decided too take my rockers off. Hopefully this is my issue. All but #1 and #2 trunions are galled up. Had to hammer them out of the rockers. We can start again with fresh trunions and rockers.
Cyl wall mark
Not the marks you like too see when doing a head gasket. Still feels smooth. Leaning towards broken ring?# 5 is the whole stoke. You can see #4 but haven’t rotated it

This is my 06 Mega. I’m in fort mac. Body isn’t as nice now but under the hood has some fun parts. Few pumps, few turbos
