Ok, I’ve got some goofy questions. I think I’ve found a ‘96 eclb 12v truck that I want. Two things that are draw backs are :
#1 it’s 2 wheel drive. I didn’t realize this at first but the guy offered me what is a good deal, if what he says about the truck is accurate. i think it is but won’t know until I drive it. I know that the truck can be 4wd swapped, and I’ve been dreaming of a second gen with manual locking hubs that bypasses the vacuum 4wd engagement system on the dodges and end up with 4 wheel disc brakes in the process.. I mentioned my intention to the seller and at first he said that the local yard is having a sale this weekend and he had seen some rams there, but then he said that his cousin has a F350 4x that broke down and has been sitting and they’re willing to sell the whole thing for $2000 and possibly less. There was an engine problem but I don’t have details other than it is possibly an ‘05.
Has anyone here swapped F350 axles onto their second gen? Are there kits for this?
#2 Along with this I’ll need a transfer case. Would it make more sense to- use the ford transmission with the transfer case and get an adaptor for the 12valve or keep the 47re and see if I can get an adaptor for the transfer case?
The engine will get turned up but before I do anything beyond adjustments that can be made to a stock 12v, I’m going to want to prep the transmission. Who do you guys recommend for an upgraded rebuild kit for 500 horse if I keep the 47re and what parts do I need and not need for that power range? I know a lot of people say you don’t need an intermediate and output shaft for that but I know I’ll need a torque converter, input shaft, and valve body beyond typical internal upgrades.
Sorry for the long winded post. Rob, I’m watching your videos as much as I can. I’m still new. This would be my third second gen and I would want it to last. Should have kept the second one!.
