Mozi Minute: You lack character not intellect =Specific, Alex is telling you what you lack which is intellect
You’re smart enough to get what you want, you just misbehave.=Specific, This is same point with the headline
Let me explain.
The way we act in every condition, taken in aggregate, I describe as your “personality.”
A pattern of behavior in specific conditions we might call “character traits”
And so, most of the time, entrepreneurs are seeking tactics.
And if tactics ARE the actual limiter of the business, the moment they get them, they immediately make more money.
However...
What happens when they get them but they don't make more?
Whats the issue?
It's one of two things:
They're working on the wrong thing (probably half the time). Which is a strategy problem.=Useful, this will help them change
Or…drum roll…
They don't know how to behave.
I’d say that falls into two buckets:=Useful and specific, telling exactly what are the things that needs to change in terms of behaviour
  1. Cant manage themselves
  2. Cant manage others
The “manage themselves” bucket leads into:=Specific, Alex is pointing out exactly what manage themselves lacks
  • Lack of patience
  • Lack of focus
  • Lack of frustration tolerance
They want new things to work fast and easy.=Understandable many of wants something to work fast and easy
The “manage others” bucket usually means:=Same point with the first one
  • They do not model the behavior they want
  • Don’t let people try
  • Do not give clear actionable feedback immediately
  • Don't reward people for doing it right
  • etc.
The “soft” skills are the ones that limit more entrepreneurs than the hard skills.=Useful, point out exactly what limits someone
And most entrepreneurs would rather point to a lack of information than character.=Useful, this makes people aware what their behavior is that they can change
But very often, that’s actually the thing holding you back.=Useful those things are the ones that holds you
So what do you do?
Think of the most dangerous competitor you can.
What would they do in your situation? DO THAT.
Easier said than done. But so is everything worth doing.
Do better to get more.
- Alex
PS - This has nothing to do with scaling a business (and everything) and if you can't figure out what's holding you back the best way to learn is to surround yourself with a bunch of people making a lot more than you.=Useful giving the audience a solution
And I've taken the liberty of putting a room together like that for people $1M to $50M.=Big, 1m to 50m this range of income is big, these people are definitely in a different level
It’s great.
Writing headline:
How I change my life without changing who I am as a person by doing this ‘’secret life hack’’
