You Can’t Outthink a Dysregulated Nervous System

As we are nearing the holidays, many of us are getting more and more caught up in everything that still needs to be done, we start reflecting over how this past year worked out, and how we want the next year to pan out. Our mind is spinning and our thoughts take over. Because this is what we do: We try to THINK our way out of our challenges. Come up with a plan. Rationalize what we SHOULD and SHOULD NOT do. But what this oftentimes makes us feel like is disconnected. ❌Disconnected from ourselves, ❌disconnected from our loved ones when we snap at them, ❌disconnected from our lives when we see what we set out to do and didn’t get it done. The thing is… our nervous system was never designed to be “on” all the time. No amount of thinking, planning, or optimizing can override that biology. Not everything in life is meant to be solved like a math equation. Some things are meant to be felt, regulated, and integrated. I want you to know that “unplugging” isn’t about abandoning your mind.
