You don't know who people are and I forgive you

An alignment (of your Selves) support story--> I met my brother Gary’s caregiver after my brother passed away. SekouTuré was a musician on his downtime and did the home healthcare gig 9 to 5 (kind of).

Gary was not his only patient, I know that for sure. But he was his last best friend.

The way he moved through Gary’s belongings, separating Stuff to Give Away, Stuff the Family May Want, and Stuff to Throw Away, was fascinating to watch.

🎶 I think he played the bass, but he did this work like a drummer.

🎶 I could tell he had walked this route before -- had a patient transition on him. What a "death doula" he was! But this wasn't claimed.

💃 He was indeed a Work of Art on the Overground Railroad, helping the incapacitated feel seen and succeed at a point where they don't know WHEN they are going.

💃 I'm happy to have met someone with a passion for his creativity who also found caregiving a way to express empathy and love. Maybe it was because he wasn't "from around here" that combining the two came naturally to him.

The other male caregiver Work of Art I met wanted to be a banker. This is the field he works in right now, and we're friends on LinkedIn.

(Aside)--> He was also not born in the US.

👣Just a Creative who used his home health aide job, helping me with my mother, as a stepping stone to fund his economics degree. (He was the BEST!)

Message for caregiver-leaders--> Whatever may be burning inside you that doesn't appear to align with caregiving or leading wholeheartedly as you have, just know this too is part of the terrain.

I call you Self-Healing HealMobiles on the Overground Railroad for these reasons-- you are living WORKS of ART not works in progress. You get my utmost respect and 10-toes-down supports (of the training and coaching variety).

Everyone needs to pay better attention!

I'd love to hear your insights into the worlds you're traversing, that you know could be tighter in tandem if you just knew how!

You can't "leave" with your song (creative self) still inside you, that's for sure.

Certainly DO NOT LET hands-on, healthcare support-work stop you.
