Why You Feel Everything (And Why That Means You’re Needed)
Have you had days like this? I know I have!
You walk into a café and within seconds, you feel something's off. The barista is having a bad day. Customers are pretending to be fine when they're not. The air itself feels heavy.
You don't need anyone to tell you. You just know.
You try to do some shopping but the the streets are crowded. The bustling energy is like a magnetic storm to your senses.
And then you go home, exhausted, wondering if you're imagining things. Wondering why everyone else seems so... unaffected. Why you carry the weight of …what? Others’ moods? Their unspoken words? Their tension?
You've been told to "toughen up”. To "not take things personally”. To "stop being so dramatic”.
But those people don't understand.
They imply you’re malfunctioning.
There's nothing wrong with you.
You're just calibrated differently.
Most people move through the world with strong filters. They hear words and move on. Let’s be honest, our culture seems to demand that.
You hear words and feel what’s underneath them—the loneliness, the hope, the weariness, the love that never gets spoken.
They are processing information — you ⚡️experience⚡️ it.
From today, let’s stop seeing this as a weakness. After all:
• You're the one who remembers the small details that others instantly forget.
• You're the one who notices when someone's smile doesn't reach their eyes; or the gleam when they glance at someone, that they thought was a secret.
• You're the friend people tell, when they're falling apart, because you’re not going to act all surprised. You already knew.
Far from being a freak accident, this is the result of a nervous system that's tuned to a higher resolution.
Hey, I know, INFPs aren’t the only ones in the world who sometimes feel these things. But ours is often full-on, and in combination with our other traits, it brings a particular set of challenges.
I've created a free, private online community for INFPs — like me — who feel so much, absorbing the world's emotions like a sponge.
A space where you'll meet others who understand without you having to explain. Where you can learn to protect your energy without losing your gift.
If you're ready to stop feeling like you're too much for this world, or the world is too much for you — and start finding your people — come and explore.
