How do you define Luxury?
My daughter had a "hands on" interview the other day at a very high-end luxury salon. She had to perform a facial on the owner and one of the questions she was asked is "how do you define luxury".
This is luxury in 1947. First Class trip aboard the White Star Cunard, The Queen Elizabeth.
The dinner menu itself is a work of art. Large and heavy stock and meant to be a remembrance of the trip. These are truly spectacular and deserve to be framed. There are many more that I will eventually get around to scanning, but these are a start. My dream would be for someone to frame them all together to pay homage to this July trip in 1947.
You can see the tiny time-darkened tape marks that held these menus in a scrapbook for decades. I wonder how many times this couple opened the scrapbook and recalled a menu they particularly enjoyed. And how sad it makes me that there were no heirs that wanted them...but here we are, the preservers of the past, admirers of the art, and stewards of the relics.
