Thoughts
Your thoughts are not just thoughts. They are biology in motion.
Every time you repeat a thought, the same neurons fire. The connection strengthens. The pathway becomes faster and more automatic. This is Hebbian learning. Neurons that fire together, wire together.
But here is the catch.
Your brain does not ask “Is this thought true?”
It asks “Is this familiar?”
Familiar feels safe. Even when it hurts. Even when it is wrong. So when you repeat negative self-talk, your nervous system treats it as identity. Cortisol rises. Inflammation increases. Digestion, immunity, and repair slow down.
The good news is that your brain is plastic. What was wired can be rewired, through repetition, attention, and emotion.
