something that happened this week because it totes stopped me in my tracks and reminded me exactly why The Backroom community is what it is… and why I'm so damn grateful for it

so I had this idea… I was gonna open the Backroom up for 48 hours… let the outside world have a nosy… see the vibe… see the epic humans… see what actually goes on in there

part of me kinda thought it would be great for visibility for everyone inside and also the space itself… a little experiment… would people see it and wanna jump in? (it differs from a space like this, btw the classifieds, it's amazing as a public space, it's all about getting your offers seen and sold...2 different spaces)

So before I did anything… I asked The Backroom members… obvs and their responses changed my mind completely

One said "I've written things in here I wouldn't share anywhere else publicly"

another said "what makes a space like this special is that you can share vulnerably… that's the whole point of being behind a paid wall with people you trust"

Another said "I'd feel really uncomfortable if a private community suddenly went public… even for 48 hours"

And I sat there reading those and just went…

yeah

THAT is it. THAT is what makes this place different… epic af… and worth protecting always

the fact that people come in and say the real thing… the scary thing… the vulnerable thing… without performing… without worrying about who's watching… without softening it for public consumption

You don't find that everywhere… totes not

and it's not something I'm ever gonna trade for visibility… not even for a nano second

so we're staying private… always… what's said in the Backroom stays in the Backroom ✌️

BUT… it did make me think about the people on the outside…

if you've been kinda watching from out there… wondering what actually goes on in the Backroom… wondering if it's your kind of space…

here's what I can tell you

it's a space where people say the thing they've been too scared to say anywhere else… where they show up for each other without even being asked… where the conversations are real and the results are real and the HUMANS are amazing

and next week we go ALL IN on something I've been obsessed with for 12 months… Cash In The Comments 💸…
