♦️ Forcing habits through willpower is hard. There's an easier way.
Willpower runs out. Every time. It's not a character flaw, it's just how the brain works.
The people who actually stick to their habits long term aren't grinding harder than everyone else. They've tricked their brain into wanting the habit instead of resisting it.
Here's one easy way to do this. Right after you do the thing, whether it's a cold shower, workout, or walk, you immediately reward yourself. Say out loud, "This feels good, let's do it again," and make yourself laugh. That's it. The laugh can be fake or genuine, it doesn't matter which.
It sounds silly, but here's what's happening. You're tricking your brain into connecting the action to a positive feeling. Dopamine gets released. The craving starts to build. The resistance starts fading.
Two weeks of this and the uphill slog of a new habit will start feeling like a pull instead of a push.
Phoenix Kaizen is where guys build habits that actually stick. We cover all of this and more if you want to check it out.
